Request currency accounts

POST
/api/v1/organizations/{organization_id}/multi-currency-accounts
curl --request POST \
--url https://api.elephants.inc/api/v1/organizations/2489E9AD-2EE2-8E00-8EC9-32D5F69181C0/multi-currency-accounts \
--header 'Authorization: Bearer <token>' \
--header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
--data '{ "currencies": [ "example" ] }'

Requests receiving bank accounts for the given currencies on behalf of the organization. Any ISO 4217 code may be asked for. When the entity is not ready, saves the selections without calling the partner; a worker checks entity-specific capabilities and submits them once the entity is ready. Otherwise the partner’s capabilities are read now: a currency it offers is requested, and one it does not open for this business is recorded as failed (contact support), the same as a refused request. New accounts open asynchronously and read processing until usable; attaching a currency to an existing account can make it active immediately. A later webhook may also make previously failed currencies active when the account supports them, preserving the failed request history. Returns every currency’s current state, as listOrganizationMultiCurrencyAccounts does, plus one outcome per requested currency. Fails as a whole when business verification was rejected (entity_rejected) or the partner eligibility read fails (502).

active when a payer can send this currency today by any rail; processing while a selection waits for its entity or an account is being provisioned; failed when the latest attempt for this currency failed or the partner does not open it for this business, and no account is active or processing (contact support); available when it can be requested (requests also require requests_enabled). Current availability takes precedence over historical failures.

string
Allowed values: available processing active failed
outcomes
required

One outcome per requested currency, ordered alphabetically by currency code.

Array<object>
object
currency
required

ISO 4217 code.

string
result
required

requested when a selection was saved or submitted to the banking partner; already_active / already_processing when nothing more was needed; failed when the partner does not open it for this business, refused it, or a previous request failed (contact support); provider_unavailable when the partner could not be reached and the request will be retried. Outcomes describe this call; data gives current currency availability.

Error

Error response. error.type is the machine-readable code — branch on it, never on error.message or the HTTP status. error.message is display-grade prose safe to render to a user; when a failure has no specific copy it falls back to a generic sentence, so it never carries a machine code. Unrecognised failures collapse to the generic unprocessable_entity code, so treat type as an open enum: match the codes you handle and fall through to a default branch for the rest.
