Environments
Ele has two environments. They share the same API, but not data: accounts, organizations, tokens and keys from one do not work in the other.
| Environment | Base URL |
|---|---|
| Sandbox | https://staging-api.elefin.net |
| Production | https://api.elephants.inc |
Every path in these docs starts with /api/v1, so a full URL looks like
https://staging-api.elefin.net/api/v1/organizations.
Sandbox
Section titled “Sandbox”Build and test against the sandbox. Money in the sandbox is not real, and the banking, payment and card partners behind it run in their own test modes. Nothing you do there moves real funds.
To get sandbox access, ask your Ele contact. You need at least one sandbox user for each staff member you want to test with, and a client organization that those users belong to.
The Go examples on this site use the sandbox unless you set ELE_API_BASE:
export ELE_API_BASE=https://staging-api.elefin.netProduction
Section titled “Production”Point ELE_API_BASE at production only when your integration works in the
sandbox:
export ELE_API_BASE=https://api.elephants.incAPI keys and environments
Section titled “API keys and environments”An organization API key starts with ele_test_ or ele_live_. An ele_test_
key works only in the sandbox, and an ele_live_ key works only in production.
Ele rejects a key sent to the wrong environment with 401 and the error type
invalid_api_key.
